International Law Association Japan Branch was established on 13 December 1920. The history of the Japan Branch is available here and here. It is authorized as a general incorporated association. On 30 April 2025, Judge Shunji Yanai stepped down as President of the Japan Branch. Starting from 1 May 2025, Judge Yasumasa Nagamine (Former Supreme Court Justice) is the President. It is with great sadness that our honorary member Judge Shigeru Oda passed away on 4 September 2025. Judge Oda was the president of the Japan Branch from 2003 to 2009. We publish Japanese Yearbook of International Law (former title Japanese Annual of International Law). Japanese Yearbook of International Law, Vol.67 was published in February 2025.
